Early in my career I worked inside a procurement process that was hard to follow and harder to defend. There was no independent service to turn to. I asked consulting firms to build one.
Independence was not their business. Preparing tenders and running processes was.
So I started building it. First a maturity assessment tool. Then deeper controls. Then the technology caught up: append-only records that prove integrity without asking anyone to trust us.
